Prodigal Return is a special grenade launcher with some standout perk combos — at least at first glance. But when you dig deeper, it’s more of a niche weapon with exotic flair than a true meta-changer. It is the first grenade launcher to feature Voltshot, which is exciting — but in a world where Forbearance exists and dominates with effortless add-clear, Prodigal Return starts to lose its edge.
That said, if you don’t have a solid Forbearance in your vault, Prodigal Return is still worth picking up.
Its perk pool includes Envious Assassin, Lead from Gold, Threat Detector, and Field Prep in the first column, with Voltshot, Demolitionist, and Danger Zone in the second. It also supports Disorienting Grenades (formerly blinding), and a roll like Lead from Gold + Voltshot + Disorienting Grenades could be quite valuable for high-end PvE content.
Already rocking a blinding grenade launcher you love? You can safely pass on this one. But if your loadout is missing a utility GL with some Volt-powered flair, Prodigal Return is a fun addition.

- The service can be completed when the //Node.OVRD.Avalon// mission is in rotation.
